Notes
Many people in London are facing tough challenges in the current economic climate. Some of these challenges include: • Benefit capping / reduction • Tougher / tighter benefit rules • Rising cost of living • Low wages • Rising level of unemployment, debt and poverty • Anxiety and health problems
SEAP Collectively, the above puts a lot of pressure on Londoners. To find solutions to some of the above challenges and make a difference in people`s lives, we will be running a specific training programme under our Skills Empowerment and Advisory Project (SEAP).
Objectives The key objectives of the project are: • Empowering participants and directing them to employers who need their skills • Filling skills gaps in the Housing Sector • Helping to regenerate communities • Providing practical on the job training in various areas of Housing Management • Promoting Economic Independence The training programme is designed specifically for the unemployed and others that are interested in pursuing a career in Housing Management. It will focus on the following strategic areas of Housing Management: • Rental Income Collection and Management • Repairs / Maintenance Administration
The duration of the programme is 24 weeks. It will involve classroom lectures, simulation exercises and hands-on, work experience training in the two functional areas. The course will be led and supervised by housing management professionals at Mace. Participants who successfully complete the programme, would be equipped with the skills that employers (Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Property Management Companies, etc) badly need in the housing sector of the economy. They will also be awarded AIMS Level 3 Professional Certificate (a nationally recognised vocational professional qualification).
